I was brought in in 2008 to run the ball club for two years and help set the foundation and help mentor Chad Henne and now they are turning over the reigns to Chad and I have a different role. But I think my challenge is even greater now that I have this role because I don't know when my opportunity is gonna be."
Pennington jersey is expected to begin this season as a backup to Chad Henne in Miami.
"To me, Friday night football is what it's all about," he says. "That's the most exciting part of being a football player. I've played on all three levels and Friday night football there is nothing better. Number two, I think at the high school level you can really help a young man set a foundation not only as a football player, but as a person."
When his NFL jerseys career is over Pennington, who has thrown for more than 17,000 yards in the NFL, would like to stay on the sidelines but stay true to his school.
While the Miami Dolphins quarterback is not expected to make any appearances under the Friday Night Lights this season, he does see himself back in high school someday.
