Payton Manning and Colts complaining

Bottom line is that whether it was a rule change or not, the fact is that a change was made that drastically altered the way the game of fooball is played, and it was changed at the behest of and for the benefit of, one player.  Face it - the NFL is all about marketing and they were sick of the so-called "Face of the cheap NFL hats " losing in the playoffs every year and getting a rep as a perennial choke artist, so they stepped up and did something about it.

It's like a lot of other calls in sports that have always been called in a way that isn't quite in line with the rule book but that everyone agrees to.  A perfect example is the so-called "in the neighborhood" call at second base on double plays.  Do you know what I'm talking about, oh Wise One?  It's when the middle man on a DP comes across the bag as he's receiving the throw and in many cases never has contact with the bag and control of the ball at the same time.  In fact, often the guy never even touches the bag.  It's always been tradition though that so long as the throw didn't take him off the bag and he's "in the neighborhood" of the base, then the runner is called out.  Again, not exactly according to the rules, but everyone goes with the flow, rather than have middle infielders getting killed on every double play.

Learn the rules, know when they were implemented....ie the chuck rule. Well in place before Manning. Not like the Brady rule which was implemented because of Brady. How about the rule where the QB gets to work out with a certain number of the footballs that are to be used in playoff games. The was put in place because both Manning and Brady were "crying" about the slick footballs that they had to use. How about the bull call on the "tuck"rule for the Patriots.Fudgie, you condescending twit, I know that the rule was already in place, technically speaking.  But the fact is, illegal contact was called a certain way for 20 years, and the league changed the way it was called for Manning's benefit.   Whether you call it a "rule change" or an "increased emphasis", as Colts fans like to say, the fact is, everyone was fine with the way the rule was being interpreted until the Colts complained.

I would expect Manning and Polian to complain and complain loudly. The wholesale Colts jersey offense is built to play fast, stop defenses from subbing in and wear down the other team. Thats how they are built. Move the ref, not a problem. But to take a ref and let them control the tempo of the game is sheot. Almost as much sheot as some of you spout on a daily basis.

The fact that you guys post something everyday in hopes of turning the masses to Brady supporters is pathetic in its own right. Other teams fan respect Brady, he is a great QB. You have a great coach and a winning tradition.

Then after all those years of your defensive backs hitting and holding the Colts recievers after the 5 yards (which should have been a penalty then) you want to cry about a bull crap call against one of your guys d backs. Fact is that one play cost you nothing. Manning played lights out that game and the Colts beat the Patriots. So the cheap Patriots jersey thought if we cant bet them we will join them. So they went out and purchased a group of WR the Colts would envy. Only to realize that it dont mean squat because its a team game, not Brady not Manning. The one year Brady had all Mannigs tools he had 1 Manning year.......1 Year like Manning nothing since.

Is it the fact the majority of nfl fans believe Manning to be a better QB that pi$$es you guys of. Is it in the knowledge that now that Brady has as good as recievers as Manninig has had thru out his career Brady looked worse in the playoffs last year without a defense to bail him out. Is it the fact that some of you are starting to realize that Manning is better then Brady? Who knows........HE(( who care?

If a few of you guys actually knew the game of football and what the rules were you might make you fan base out to be a little more credible. I guess coming from a coach the "misunderstood" the vidieo taping rules that should come as no surprise. I read the posts daily and Patriots fans cry more and more about cheap Manning jersey as the days go by.

I used to believe that the vast majority of Patriot fans were at least somewhat familiar with the rule of the game. However these past few days of you guys posting the garbage the you all "THINK" to be true proves to me otherwise. The rule about the defensive backs was already in place. The 5 yard chuck rule has been on the books before Manning. Polian never added that rule to the books. The simple fact that the Patriots were breaking that rule every time they meet the Colts does not make it "LEGAL".
